Bangladesh’s stocks open optimistic

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed upward trend in early trading on Tuesday as optimistic investors went on buying spree on sector specific large-cap stocks.
Following the previous day’s correction, both bourses -- the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) open higher with increasing trading activities.
After 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 26.84 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 44 points when the report was filing at 10:45am.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, went up by 26.84 points or 0.12 per cent to stand at 5,716.51 points, when the report was filed at 10:45am.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 9.05 points or 0.43 per cent to reach at 2,125.52 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 2.41 points or 0.18 per cent to stand at 1,304.35 points till then.
Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stands at BDT 660 million when the report was filed at 10:45 million.
Brac Bank dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 86 million changing hands till then, closely followed by IDLC Finance BDT 60 million, LankaBangla Finance BDT 56 million, Prime Bank BDT 44 million and NCC Bank BDT 40 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 133 advanced, 25 declined and 28 issues remained unchanged.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse CSE also saw upward trend with its Selective Category Index - CSCX – advancing 44 points to stand at 10,729 points, also at 10:45am.
Of the issues traded till then, 39 gained, 5 declined and 9 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of BDT 15 million.
