Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks plunged at midday on Tuesday facing roller coaster ride as investors remained on selling spree.
At the opening both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed positive trend.
But as the time progressed, both the bourses faced ups and downs and at 12:30pm some major indicators of the bourses showed negative trend and some positive.
At 12:30pm, DSEX plunged 2.21 points and reached at 5447.90 while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 8.35 points to reach at 10229.01 points when this report was filed.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached 5469.29 points.
The two other indices also saw steep gain till the time and from 10:45am all the indicators of the DSE faced nosedive and it continued till 12:30pm when this report was filed.
After two and half hours of trading at 12:30pm, the DSEX plunged 2.21 points to reach at 5447.90.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 1.08 points or 0.05 per cent to reach at 2025.80 points at 12:30pm.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 2.09 points or 0.16 per cent to reach at 1259.96 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stood at only BDT 2031 million when the report was filed at 12:30pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 98 advanced, 135 declined and 82 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Paramount Textile Limited dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 163 million changing hands till then, closely followed by MJLBD BDT 89 million, Activefine BDT 84 million, BD Finance BDT 70 million, LankaBafin BDT 68 and BeaconPhar BDT 59 million.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw ups and downs till 12:30pm as its Selective Category Index – CSCX –gained 8.35 points to stand at 10229.01 points till the time.
Of the issues traded till then,65 gained, 76 declined and4 7 issues remained unchanged with BDT 135 million in turnover.
