Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks of the bourses rebounded strongly on Thursday after two consecutive sluggish sessions with turnover hitting one month high again as investors went for fresh positioning, anticipating short-term rally.

The bench mark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSEX went up by 56.54 points or 1.38 per cent to close at 4,125.27 points, peaked one month high level. The blue chip DS30 index also rose 23.85 points or 1.55 per cent to close at 1,561.09 points.

The total turnover value on DSE boost up by 30.2 per cent over previous session’s value and reached a new one month high value to BDT 7.36 billion. It was the highest turnover since July 18.

The gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 291 issues traded, 216 declined, 53 advanced and 22 remained unchanged in the prime bourse.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company continued to dominate the top turnover’s chart for the third consecutive session with shares worth BDT 340.58 million changing hands.

Grameen Mutual Fund One was the day’s highest gainer positing a rise of 9.95 per cent while ICB Eighth Mutual Fund was the day’s worst loser for the second running session, slumping by 9.97 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with the CSE Selective Category Index gained 114.85 points to close at 8,091.91 points.

Gainers beat losers 155 to 36, with 19 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 11.97 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover of BDT 511.35 million.
