Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Bangladesh’s stocks returned to the green on Monday, breaking three sessions losing streak with turnover falling slightly as investors went for late hour buying spree.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went up by 23.74 points or 0.52 percent to close at 4,564.34 points after four hours trading.
The DS30, comprising blue chips gained 6.70 points or 0.38 percent to close at 1,728.44 points. The DSE Shariah Index advanced 2.87 points or 0.27 percent to close at 1,063.02 points.
DSE turnover stood at BDT 7.07 billion, registering a decline of 4.20 percent over the previous session’s value of BDT 7.38 billion.
Out of 295 issues traded, 155 advanced, 117 declined and 23 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.
Beximco Limited continued to top the turnover chart for the second running sessions with shares worth BDT 475.49 million changing hands followed by MJL BD, BSRM Steels, Lafarge Surma Cement and Square Pharma.
Summit Alliance Port Ltd was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 9.50 percent while Pragati Life Insurance was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 31 percent following its no dividend declaration.
The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 35.20 points to close at 8,614.18 points.
Losers beat gainers 106 to 102, with 16 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 13.74 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 509.32 million
