Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks returned to the green on Tuesday after previous session’s flat movement with improving turnover as investors took position on large cap stocks.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended at 4,576.36 points, gaining 22.22 points or 0.48 percent from previous session.
The DS30, comprising blue chips gained 21.33 points or 1.24 percent to close at 1,733.90 points.
The DSE Shariah Index advanced 7.48 points or 0.70 percent to close at 1,070.25 points.
DSE turnover improved to BDT 7.43 billion, which was 20.8 percent higher over the previous session’s value of BDT 6.15 billion.
Out of 301 issues traded, 171 declined, 108 advanced and 22 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.
MJL BD was the most traded stock with shares worth BDT 527.92 million changing hands followed by Beximco, ACI, Lafarge Surma Cement and GP.
Beximco was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 7.80 percent in while Shympur Sugar Mills was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 7.24 percent.
The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also closed positive with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 44.43 points to close at 8,585.56 points.
Losers beat gainers 143 to 71, with 18 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 14.38 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 547.47 million.
