Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The prices of most stocks on the both bourses—Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed downward trend in the early hours on Thursday amid countrywide hartal.

The benchmark Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSEX) went down by 38.66 points within first 30 minutes of trading to stand at 3898.79 points at 11am when the report was filed.

Of the issues traded then, 11 advanced, 125 declined and 17 remained unchanged.

Turnover on the premier bourse and stood at BDT 200 million till the report was filed at 11am.

Newly Listed Global Heavy Chemical topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 37 million changing hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also opened with a negative trend and the Selective Category Index of the CSE lost 51 points to stand at 7,598 points also at 11am.

Of the issues traded then, 6 advanced, 55 declined and 7 remained unchanged.
