Bangladesh’s stocks see downtrend at opening

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The prices of most stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw downtrend in the early hours on Wednesday amid countrywide hartal.

The benchmark Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSEX) went down by 21.04 points or 0.55 per cent within first 30 minutes of trading to stand at 3,797.25 points at 11am when the report was filed.

Of the issues traded then, 16 advanced, 101 declined and 16 remained unchanged.

Turnover on the DSE turnover stood at only BDT 104 million till the report was filed at 11am.

Newly listed Orion Pharma topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 16 million changing hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also   opened with a negative trend and the Selective Category Index of the CSE lost 71 points to stand at 7,309 points also at 11am.

Of the issues traded then, 6 advanced, 62 declined and 7 remained unchanged.
