Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed a mild correction on Sunday as risk-averse investors booked quick-profit on sector specific stocks.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), finished at 4,667.19 points, shedding 9.93 points or 0.21 percent over the previous day while the Selective Categories Index – CSCX – of the port city bourse lost 2.21 points to settle at 8,750.78 points.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After witnessing marginal volatility almost throughout the session, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), finished at 4,667.19 points, shedding 9.93 points or 0.21 percent over the previous day.
The two other indices also closed slightly lower. The DS30 comprising blue chips fell 2.98 points or 0.17 percent to settle at 1,755.16 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.44 points or 0.12 percent to close at 1,121.03 points.
Turnover, the important indicator of the market, also came down to BDT 5.64 billion, which was 12.69 percent lower than the previous day’s turnover ofBDT 6.46 billion.
The losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 321 issues traded, 169 closed lower, 106 closed higher and 46 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
MJL Bangladesh dominated the DSE turnover chart with 2.12 million shares worth over BDT 258 million changing hands, closely followed by Bangladesh Building Systems BDT 244 million, Square Pharmaceuticals TBDT 231 million, Shasha Denims BDT 184 million and Navana CNG BDT 165 million.
National Tubes was the day’s best performer, posting a 9.97 percent, while Bangas was the worst loser, slumping by 31.70 percent the news of its category change to Z category.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also finished marginally lower with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – losing 2.21 points to settle at 8,750.78 points.
Losers beat gainers as 115 issues closed lower, 93 closed higher and 31 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 15.86 million shares and mutual fund units’ worth over BDT 367 million in turnover.
