Bangladesh’s stocks see sharp fall at opening

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The prices of most shares on the both bourses---Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed sharp fall in the early hours on Sunday amid countrywide hartal.

The benchmark Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSEX) went down 36 points within first 15 minutes of trading to stand at 3,937 points at 10.45am when the report was filed.

Of the issues traded then, 12 advanced, 78 declined and 3 remained unchanged.

Turnover on the premier bourse and stood at BDT 145 million till the report was filed at 10.45am.

Newly Listed Premier Cement topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 112 million changing hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also opened with a negative trend and the Selective Category Index of the CSE lost 53 points to stand at 7,827 points also at 11.45am.

Of the issues traded then, 5 advanced, 28 declined and 10 remained unchanged.
