Bangladesh’s stocks slip for fourth session

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The prices of most stocks slipped for the fourth running session on Sunday with turnover declined slightly as cautious investors sold shares amid cloudy investment outlook.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange ----DGEN ended at 3,873.46 points, shedding 40.76 points or 1.04 per cent.

The turnover on the premier bourse stood at BDT 1.77 billion against BDT 1.78 billion in the previous session.

Of the 264 issues traded on the premier bourse, 42 advanced, 204 declined and 18 remained unchanged.

Newly listed securities dominated the top turnover chart with Summit Purbanchol Power Company topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 153.46 million changing hands. Golden Harvest Agro Industries, Premier cement, United Airways and Argon Denims were next popular stocks.

Reliance One was the day’s top gainer, posting a rise of 8.60 per cent while newly debut Global Heavy Chemical was the day’s worst loser, plunging by 13.67 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE lost 97.36 points to close at 7,511.02 points.

Losers beat gainers 142 to 21 with six issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 9.25 million shares and mutual fund units, generating Tk 233.56 million in turnover.
