Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Bangladesh’s stocks slipped for the second running sessions on Tuesday amid choppy trading as late hour profit taking sale wiped-out early gain.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went down by 16.63 points or 0.31 percent to close at 5,292.60 points.

The DS30, comprising blue chips, lost 0.84 points or 0.04 percent to close at 1,993.27 points. However, the DSE Shariah Index managed to close in positive territory like previous session, gaining 2.36 points or 0.19 percent to end at 1,240.10 points.

Turnover on DSE remained crossed BDT 10-billion mark and amounted to BDT 10.97 billion, registering an increase of 9.15 percent over the previous session’s value of BDT 10.05 billion.

Losers outpaced gainers as out of 306 issues traded, 148 declined, 140 advanced and 18 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.

Square Pharma was the day’s most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 695.33 million changing hands followed by MJL BD, GP, Beximco and Delta Life Insurance.

ACI Formulations was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 9.97 percent while Savar Refractories was the day’s worst losers, losing 7.27 percent.

The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw marginal correction with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – lost 36.03 points to close at 9,935.84 points.

Losers beat gainers 138 to 83, with 15 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 20.10 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 679.22 million.
