Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks failed to stay at positive note at midday on Sunday as cautious investors on selling mood.

Following the previous week’s correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened positive with thin trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 8.0 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 0.12 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading DSEX gained more than 30 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 22 points at 11:00am.

Since then, the market started to decline and after 90 minutes of trading, DSEX fell 2.68 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 5.73 points when the report was filed at 12noon.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,168 points, losing 2.68 points or 0.04 percent at 12noon.

However, the two other indices stayed on positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 1.55 points or 0.07 percent to reach at 2,199 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 0.86 points or 0.06 percent to reach at 1,363 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.66 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

The banking sector dominated the turnover chart with Shahjalal Islami Bank led the chart till then with shares worth BDT 246 million changing hands, closely followed Uttara Bank BDT 182 million, National Bank BDT 164 million, Exim Bank BDT 78 million and Summit Power BDT 77 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 104 advanced, 155 declined and 49 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 5.73 points to stand at 11,573 points, also at 12noon.

Of the issues traded till then, 55 gained, 97 declined and 36 issues remained unchanged with BDT 293 million in turnover.
