Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the downward trend at midday on Monday, the last trading session before Eid-ul-Azha vacation.

It is the last trading day before Eid vacation as trading and official activities will remain closed on both bourses from August 21 to August 25, including weekly holidays.

Following the previous day’s sharp gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened lower amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell nearly 9.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse lost 33 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX fell more than 9.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse shed 11 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX lost more than 8.0 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index fell 6.0 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,530 points, losing 8.52 points or 0.15 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 5.30 points to reach at 1933 points till then.

However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 2.64 points to stand at 1,253 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.64 billion when the report was filed at 12noon.

National Housing Finance was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 87 million changing hands, followed by LankaBangla Finance BDT 78 million, BBS cables BDT 57 million, Brac Bank BDT 52 million and Dhaka Bank BDT 51 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 175 advanced, 105 declined and 33 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw negative trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse–losing 6.0 points to stand at 16,999 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also fell 5.44 points to reach at 10,292 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 86 gained, 60 declined and 13 issues remained unchanged with BDT 147 million in turnover.
