Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the downward trend at midday that began in the morning Thursday as investors remained on selling spree amid ongoing quarterly earnings declarations.

Following the previous sessions’ sharp fall, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on negative trend amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell more than 8.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse lost 0.26 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX lost more than 9.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse fell 26 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX fell more than 10 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 15 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,729 points, losing 10.12 points or 0.17 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also fell 3.22 points or 0.15 percent to reach at 2,140 points till then.

However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 1.02 points or 0.07 percent to stand at 1,326 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.02 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Beximco was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 134 million changing hands, closely followed by Queen South Textile BDT 100 million, Navana CNG BDT 79 million, Western Marine Shipyard BDT 68 million and HR Textile BDT 63 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 172 advanced, 94 declined and 45 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – losing 15 points to stand at 17,678 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 7.0 points to reach at 10,690 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 81 gained, 57 declined and 16 issues remained unchanged with BDT 91 million in turnover.
