Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the negative trend at midday on Sunday as investors remained cautious stance ahead of national elections.
Following the previous week’s positive trend, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed downturn with low trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell more than 4.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse lost 4.0 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX fell 4.46 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse lost 12 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX fell nearly 11 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 51 points at 12noon when the report was filed.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,295 points, losing 10.95 points or 0.20 percent at 12noon.
Two other indices also saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 5.19 points to reach at 1,863 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) fell 0.04 points to stand at 1,227 points till then.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.23 billion when the report was filed at 12noon.
Khulna Power Company was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 145 million changing hands, closely followed by Intech, SK Trims Industries, National Tea Company and Pharma Aids.
Of the issues traded till then, 126 advanced, 139 declined and 44 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city’s bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE), also saw negative trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – losing 51 points to stand at 16,233 points, also at 12noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 32 points to reach at 9,842 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 55 gained, 79 declined and 22 issues remained unchanged with BDT 91 million in turnover.
