Bangladesh’s stocks stay in upbeat trend at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the upbeat trend at midday on Tuesday as some investors continued on buying spree on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous day’s upward movement, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 23 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 17 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 41 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 126 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 35 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 140 points at 12noon, when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,476 points, advancing 35.36 points or 0.65 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also gained 25 points to reach at 1,934 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 17 points to stand at 1,281 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.49 billion when the report was filed at 12noon.

Olympic Industries was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 263 million changing hands, closly followed by Khulna Power BDT 206 million, Square Pharma BDT 155 million, United Power BDT 142 million, million and BBS Cables BDT 124 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 137 advanced, 139 declined and 44 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE

The port city’s bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse–advancing 140 points to stand at 16,914 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 86 points to reach at 10,245 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 72 gained, 68 declined and 13 issues remained unchanged with BDT 99 million in turnover.
