Bangladesh’s stocks stay down at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the downward trend at midday on Sunday as most of the investors remained on selling binge.
After 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 16.94 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 39 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the prime index of the major bourse came down below the 5700-mark and stands at 5698, losing 21.68 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 54 points at 11:00am.
However, it recovered some losses as the session progressed.
At 12:00 noon, the DSEX went down by 13.55 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 33.65 points when the report was filing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,706.05, losing 13.55 points or 0.24 percent when the report was filing at 12:00 noon.
The two other indices also saw downward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 3.68 points or 0.17 percent to reach at 2,087.07 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 2.92 points or 0.22 percent to reach at 1,300.78 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.63 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
Islami Bank dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 200 million changing hands till then, followed by LankaBangla Finance BDT 146 million, City Bank BDT 135 million, National Polymer BDT 120 million and IDLC Finance BDT 114 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 114 advanced, 131 declined and 49 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also stayed in the negative zone with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 33.65 points to stand at 10,720 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 66 gained, 84 declined and 16 issues remained unchanged with BDT 195 million in turnover.
