Bangladesh’s stocks stay down at midday Monday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks maintain the downward trend at midday on Monday as risk-averse investors continued their selling spree on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous day’s sharp decline, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed positive trend with low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 10 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse gained 20 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse rose 15 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) gained 24 points at 11:00am.

After one hour of trading, DSE key index fell nearly 9.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) gained 21 points at 11:30am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX plunged more than 25 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 31 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,092 points, losing 25.59 points or 0.42 percent at 12noon.

The two other indices also saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 9.0 points or 0.40 percent to reach at 2,233 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 1.45 points or 0.10 percent to reach at 1,383 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.48 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon, riding on Grameenphone.

Grameenphone was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 320 million changing hands, followed by Square Pharmaceuticals BDT 126 million, BATBC BDT 42 million, Nahee Aluminum BDT 38 million and Dragon Sweater BDT 35 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 77 advanced, 171 declined and 60 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw downward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of – losing 31 points to stand at 18,860 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 20 points to reach at 11,389 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 34 gained, 74 declined and 25 issues remained unchanged with BDT 45 million in turnover.
