Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks kept its downward trend at midday on Sunday as risk-averse investors continued their selling spree on sector specific stocks ahead of Eid festival.
Following the previous week’s mild correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened marginally lower amid thin participation of investors.
Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 0.21 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 6.20 points at 10:30am.
After first hour of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,467 points, losing 1.27 per cent while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 13 points when the report was filed at 11:00am.
After two hours of the trading, DSEX went down by 9.04 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city’s bourse fell 11 points when the report was filing at 12noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After first half of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,459 points, losing 9.04 points or 0.16 percent at 12noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 4.19 points or 0.20 percent to reach at 2027 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 0.82 points or 0.06 percent to reach at 1,261 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.35 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Paramount Textile led the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 182 million changing hands till then, closely followed by Nurani Dyeing BDT 130 million, Regent Textile BDT 112 million, Argon Denims BDT 109 million and BD Finance BDT 62 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 98 advanced, 170 declined and 49 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 11 points to stand at 10,239 points, also at 12noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 60 gained, 101 declined and 32 issues remained unchanged with BDT 114 million in turnover.
