Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stay the downward trend at midday on Thursday as risk-averse investors continued to book profit on sector specific stocks.
After hitting all-time high of the premier bourse’s key index in the previous day, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened lower.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 3.76 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 10.36 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX lost more than 20 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 13 points at 11:00am.
After two hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE fell nearly 20 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 30 points when the report was filed at 12:30pm.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After first half of the trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,763 points, losing 19.75 points or 0.34 percent at 12:30pm.
The two other indices also maintained the negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 8.85 points or 0.41 percent to reach at 2112 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 5.85 points or 0.44 percent to reach at 1,312 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.85 billion, when the report was filed at 12:30pm.
Keya Cosmetics was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 302 million changing hands, followed by ACME Laboratories BDT 220 million, Baraka Power BDT 215 million, Saif Powertec BDT 132 million and BSC BDT 121 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 96 advanced, 181 declined and 48 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw negative trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –losing 30 points to stand at 10,796 points, also at 12:30pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 67 gained, 120 declined and 34 issues remained unchanged with BDT 249 million in turnover.
