Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks keep the early hour’s positive trend midday on Thursday amid volatility, the last session of the week, as investors played both sides of trading fence.
Maintaining the previous day’s upward trend, the market opened with an optimistic note in the morning with the key index of the major bourse gaining about 19 points to reach at 5,175 points within first 15 minutes of trading.
After 30 minutes of trading, it slowed down and the prime index DSE stands at 5,168, gaining 12 points at 11:00am.
But, at 11:25am, DSEX lost 9.0 points to come down at 5,147 amid profit booking sale pressure.
However, at 12:00 noon, the key index of the DSE recovered the losses and the key of the DSE advanced 22.77 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 45.70 points.
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached at 5,179.38 points, advancing 22.77 points or 0.44 per cent at 12:00 noon.
The two other indices also maintained positive trend till then.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 9.37 points or 0.50 per cent to reach at 1,865.30 points at 12:00 noon.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 5.23 points or 0.43 per cent to reach at 1,223.71 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 5.34 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon, driven by Beximco and IFAD Autos.
Of the issues traded till then, 170 advanced, 110 declined and 38 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Beximco dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 299 million changing hands till then, closely followed by IFAD Autos BDT 252 million, Saif Powertec BDT 228 million, Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills BDT 150 million and Olympic Accessories BDT 144 million.
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also stayed positive trend till 12:00 noon as its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 45.70 points to stand at 9,631.66 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 99 gained, 80 declined and 27 issues remained unchanged with BDT 256 million in turnover.
