Bangladesh’s stocks stay positive at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed positive amid volatility at midday on Wednesday as investors were active both sides of trading fence.
Following the previous day’s gain, both bourses - the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - opened higher amid slow trading activities.
After 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced 6.37 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 23 points at 10:45am.
After 40 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s major bourse stands at 5,449 points, losing 20 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 15 points at 11:10am.
However, some optimistic investors started to take position again on sector specific stocks.
At 12noon, the DSEX went up by 2.67 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 4.70 points when the report was filing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,472.14 points, shedding 2.67 points or 0.05 percent when the report was filing at 12noon.
However, the two other indices saw downturn. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 2.05 points or 0.10 percent to reach at 2,024.30 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 0.43 points or 0.03 percent to reach at 1,262.69 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.10 billion when the report was filed at 12noon.
LankaBangla Finance dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 378 million changing hands till then, followed by United Power BDT 142 million, ICB BDT 140 million, Argon Denims BDT 82 million and IDLC Finance BDT 65 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 163 advanced, 88 declined and 34 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend at mid-day as its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 4.70 points to stand at 10,278 points, also at 12noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 71 gained, 56 declined and 27 issues remained unchanged with BDT 153 million in turnover.
