Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the positive trend at midday on Monday as some investors remained active on sector specific stocks amid optimism.

Following the previous day’s record high, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened optimistic amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 38 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse soared 80 points at 10:15am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 29 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 73 points at 10:30am.

But, the morning enthusiasm slowed down as the session progressed. After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE advanced 11 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 59 points when the report was filed at 12noon.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,919 points, advancing 11.28 points or 0.19 percent at 12noon.

However, the two other indices failed to stay positive till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 0.49 points or 0.02 percent to reach at 2129 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 0.92 points or 0.07 percent to stand at 1,312 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.68 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon, riding on banks.

IFIC Bank was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 460 million changing hands, closely followed by Eastern Bank BDT 273 million, BBS Cables BDT 243 million, City Bank BDT 168 million, and Prime Bank BDT 143 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 138 advanced, 138 declined and 42 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw positive till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 59 points to stand at 11,102 points, also at 12noon.

Of the issues traded till then, 90 gained, 81 declined and 31 issues remained unchanged with BDT 265 in turnover.
