Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the positive trend at midday on Wednesday as investors continued their buying appetite on sector-wise stocks after announcement of monetary policy.
Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday unveiled the first half-year monetary policy statement (MPS) focusing on continuation of required support for attaining targeted GDP growth and restraining the inflation.
Following the previous day’s upward trend, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 35 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 60 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX rose more than 45 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 79 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 53 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index rose 136 points at 12noon when the report was filed.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,356 points, advancing 53 points or 1.0 percent at 12noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, rose 15 points to reach at 1896 points till then.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 9.0 points to stand at 1,259 points till then.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.70 billion when the report was filed at 12noon.
Fortune Shoes was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 169 million changing hands, closely followed by BBS Cables BDT 168 million, BD Thai BDT 152 million, IFAD Autos BDT 116 million and Hamif Fabrics BDT 100 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 211 advanced, 74 declined and 36 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – gaining 136 points to stand at 16,431, also at 12noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also rose 84 points to reach at 9,945 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 122 gained, 46 declined and 28 issues remained unchanged with BDT 130 million in turnover.
