Bangladesh’s stocks stay upbeat at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the upward trend at midday on Wednesday as enthusiastic investors continued their buying spree on sector-wise stocks.

After hitting record high of the major bourse’s key index, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 20 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of the port city rose 66 points at 10:45am.

However, it slowed down somewhat as the session progressed. After 30 minutes of trading the DSEX gained nearly 11 points while CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse rose 37 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX gained more than 25 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index advanced 50 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,277 points, advancing 25.35 points or 0.40 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose 9.52 points or 0.42 percent to reach at 2,287 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 12 points or 0.86 percent to reach at 1,375 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.34 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Square Pharma was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 256 million changing hands, closely followed by LankaBangla Finance BDT 163 million, IDLC Finance BDT 130 million, Shahjalal Bank BDT 128 million and BBS Cables BDT 114 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 178 advanced, 100 declined and 32 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of – gaining 50 points to stand at 19,430 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also rose 30 points to reach at 11,761 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 100 gained, 57 declined and 27 issues remained unchanged with BDT 310 million in turnover.
