Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the upward trend at midday on Thursday amid modest volatility as investors continued their buying spree on sector-wise stocks.
Following the previous day’s marginal correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced nearly 21 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse rose 45 points at 10:45am.
However, it slowed down somewhat as the session progressed. After 30 minutes of trading the DSEX fell 4.70 points while CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) stayed positive, gaining 35 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX rebounded and gained more than 26 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index advanced 70 points at 12noon when the report was filed.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,262 points, advancing 26.28 points or 0.42 percent at 12noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also advanced 5.35 points or 0.23 percent to reach at 2,275 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 6.76 points or 0.49 percent to reach at 1,376 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.20 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Brac Bank was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 313 million changing hands, followed by Grameenphone BDT 164 million, Square Pharma BDT 155 million, Confidence Cement BDT 115 million and Generation Next Fashions BDT 112 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 175 advanced, 64 declined and 43 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of – gaining 70 points to stand at 19,400 points, also at 12noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also rose 42 points to reach at 11,741 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 94 gained, 41 declined and 20 issues remained unchanged with BDT 258 million in turnover.
