Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the upward trend at midday on Sunday as investors continued their buying spree on sector-wise stocks.

Brokers said investors continued their buying spree on stocks amid positive expectations as banks will bring down their interest rates to single digit from July 1.

Following the last week’s upward movement, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced nearly 32 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 45 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 52 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 84 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 56 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index rose 124 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,498 points, advancing 56.90 points at 12:00 noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also gained 20 points or to reach at 2,002 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 15 points to stand at 1,278 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.92 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

Grameenphone was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 139 million changing hands, closely followed by Monno Ceramic BDT 130 million, IFAD Autos BDT 119 million, Paramount Textile BDT 118 million and United Power BDT 114 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 165 advanced, 90 declined and 67 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse– advancing 124 points to stand at 16,911 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 74 points to reach at 10,230 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 88 gained, 50 declined and 32 issues remained unchanged with BDT 76 million in turnover.
