Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks kept its upward trend at midday on Wednesday as optimistic investors continued their buying spree on sector specific stocks amid post-Eid expectation.
Brokers said as pre-Eid sale pressure faded away and June-closing near, the optimistic investors took position on sector specific large-cap stocks amid post-Eid positive expectation.
Only one trading sessions is left before Eid vacation.
Following the previous two days’ upward trend, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid increased trading activities.
Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced nearly 18 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 45 points at 10:30am.
After first hour of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,555 points, advancing 27.86 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 69 points when the report was filed at 11:00am.
After two hours of the trading, DSEX went up by 30 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city’s bourse rose 73 points when the report was filing at 12noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After first half of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,557 points, advancing 30 points or 0.54 percent at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips rose 10.32 points or 0.50 percent to reach at 2060 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 5.54 points or 0.43 percent to reach at 1,278 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.14 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Regent Textile led the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 187 million changing hands till then, closely followed by IFAD Autos BDT 153 million, LankaBangla BDT 129 million, City Bank BDT 119 million and CVO Petrochemicals BDT 93 million.
Of the issues traded till then,189 advanced, 84 declined and 40 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 73 points to stand at 10,414 points, also at 12noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 113 gained, 42 declined and 26 issues remained unchanged with BDT 157 million in turnover.
