Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stayed upbeat at midday on Thursday as optimistic investors remained active on sector-wise issues, expecting positive sessions after Eid vacation.

Trading on the bourses will be closed from September 1 to September 3 in line with the government holidays.

Trading and official activities on the bourses will resume from September 4.

After hitting record high of the prime index of the major bourse in the previous day, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid slow trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced nearly 24 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 17 points at 10:15am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 28 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose nearly 27 points at 10:15am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE advanced more than 25 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 40 points when the report was filed at 12noon.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,999 points, advancing 25.34 points or 0.42 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also advanced 9.42 points or 0.44 percent to reach at 2136 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 3.55 points or 0.26 percent to reach at 1,323 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.03 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

LankaBangla Finance led the turnover chart till then with shares worth BDT 210 million changing hands, closely followed by Exim Bank BDT 190 million, IFIC Bank BDT 107 million, National Bank BDT 105 million and Fortune Shoes BDT 104 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 145 advanced, 102 declined and 61 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –gaining 40 points to stand at 11,239 points, also at 12noon.

Of the issues traded till then, 81 gained, 59 declined and 30 issues remained unchanged with BDT 145 in turnover.
