Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stayed upward at midday on Tuesday as optimistic investors continued their buying spree on sector specific stocks.
After witnessing modest correction in the previous day, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened positive amid slow trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse rose 7.05 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 17 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced 5.87 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 14 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE rose 22 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 30 points when the report was filed at 12noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,847 points, advancing 22 points or 0.38 percent at 12noon.
The two other indices also maintained the upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 6.82 points or 0.32 percent to reach at 2140 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also rose 4.19 points or 0.31 percent to reach at 1,328 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.72 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Shahjibazar Power was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 245 million changing hands, closely followed by Simtex Industries BDT 195 million, Doreen Power BDT 169 million, Confidence Cement BDT 139 million and Unique Hotel BDT 129 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 179 advanced, 85 declined and 51 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) stayed positive trend till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –gaining 30 points to stand at 10,935 points, also at 12noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 102 gained, 59 declined and 40 issues remained unchanged with BDT 174 in turnover.
