Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stayed upward trend at midday on Wednesday as investors continued their buying spree on sector-wise issues amid ongoing earnings and dividend declaration session.

Dealers said investors are taking position on sector specific selective issues as most of the listed companies declared their quarterly earnings and year-end dividend.

Following the previous day’s marginal gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid slow trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 12.38 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 17 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 27 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 32 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 28 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 65 points when the report was filed at 12noon.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,048 points, advancing 28.45 points or 0.47 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also gained 11.36 points or 0.52 per cent to reach at 2,179 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 2.10 points or 0.15 per cent to reach at 1,318 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.55 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

LankaBangla Finance was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 306 million changing hands, closely followed by Western Marine Shipyard BDT 121 million, Power Grid Company BDT 95 million, Beximco BDT 77 million and IDLC Finance BDT 73 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 203 advanced, 75 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) stayed positive trend till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 65 points to stand at 11,336 points, also at 12noon.

Of the issues traded till then, 115 gained, 41 declined and 30 issues remained unchanged with BDT 494 million in turnover.
