Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks tumbled for the third running session on Monday amid choppy trading with turnover falling further as late profit booking sale pressure wiped-out early gains.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended at 5,144.50 points, shedding 32.24 points or 0.62 percent from previous session.

The DS30, comprising blue chips lost 20.87 points or 1.06 percent to close at 1,933.26 points. The DSE Shariah Index went down by 10.19 points or 0.83 percent to close at 1,207.32 points.

The total turnover on DSE came down further to BDT 5.96 billion which was 13.68 percent lower over the previous session’s value of BDT 6.87 billion.

The losers took a lead over the gainers as out of 298 issues traded, 166 declined, 100 advanced and 32 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.

Titas Gas was the most traded stock with shares worth BDT 239.17 million changing hands followed by MJL BD, Lafarge Surma Cement, Jamuna Oil and GP.

Shahjibazar Power Company, which trading resume on Monday after 10-week suspension, was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 9.97 percent while ICB Seventh Mutual Fund was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 9.42 per cent.

The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw marginal decline with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – lost 29.54 points to close at 9,687.87 points.

Losers beat gainers 132 to 65, with 28 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 11.84 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 465.89 million.
