Bangladesh’s stocks turn higher at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks turned higher at midday on Thursday as investors are active on sector-wise stocks ahead of monetary policy announcement.

Following the previous day’s fall, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw negative trend while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive note.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell nearly 7.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse advanced 8.65 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell nearly 10 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) advanced 11 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 38 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index rose 85 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,137 points, advancing 38.50 points or 0.63 per cent at 12noon.

The other indices also saw upward trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 12.32 points or 0.55 percent to reach at 2,248 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 13 points or 0.94 percent to reach at 1,405 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.34 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Square Pharmaceuticals was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 271 million changing hands, followed by Golden Harvest Agro Industries BDT 66 million, BD Thai Aliminium BDT 52 million, Dragon Sweater BDT 48 million and IFAD Autos BDT 44 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 186 advanced, 66 declined and 52 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – advancing 85 points to stand at 18,916 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 50 points to reach at 11,422 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 70 gained, 48 declined and 22 issues remained unchanged with BDT 52 million in turnover.
