Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed volatile trading at midday on Sunday as investors were active on both sides of trading fence.

Following the previous week’s upbeat mood, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher with rising trading activities.

After first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 3.0 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 9.55 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced 6.75 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 21 points at 11:00am.

After that it started to decline as cautious investors booked profits on stocks that saw substantial gains in recent upsurges till 11:40am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the advanced 3.68 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 8.15 points when the report was filed at 12noon.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,207 points, advancing 3.68 points or 0.06 percent at 12noon.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.64 points or 0.04 percent to reach at 1,386 points.

However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 4.20 points or 0.18 percent to reach at 2221 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.92 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Argon Denims was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 142 million changing hands, closely followed LankaBangla Finance BDT 131 million, CMC Kamal BDT 118 million, Rupali Bank BDT 88 million and Square Pharmaceuticals BDT 60 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 177 advanced, 92 declined and 46 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

However, the port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw downward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 8.15 points to stand at 11,642 points, also at 12noon.

Of the issues traded till then, 98 gained, 56 declined and 32 issues remained unchanged with BDT 1.31 billion in turnover.
