Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed downward trend at midday on Thursday as investors are mostly on selling mode ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

Following the previous six days’ 186 points correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw positive trend at opening while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened lower amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 3.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse fell 3.0 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX fell 1.42 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse lost 10 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX fell more than 13 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 24 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,613 points, losing 13.75 points or 0.24 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also fell 4.34 points or 0.21 percent to reach at 2,081 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 2.37 points or 0.18 percent to stand at 1,311 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.70 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Dragon Sweater was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 179 million changing hands, closely followed by BBS Cables BDT 153 million, Doreen Power BDT 99 million, Western Marine Shipyard BDT 79 million and BSRM BDT 76 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 145 advanced, 116 declined and 43 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend till then with CSE’s All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse losing 24 points to stand at 17,343 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 13 points to reach at 10,477 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 64 gained, 59 declined and 28 issues remained unchanged with BDT 82 million in turnover.
