Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed positive trend amid volatility at midday on Monday as investors are active on both sides of trading fence.
Following the previous three days’ sharp decline, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened lower amid thin participation of investors.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 13.78 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 12 points at 10:45am.
However, in the next 15 minutes, it recovered the losses and DSEX gained 4.21 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 40 points at 11:00am.
After first hour of trading, DSEX advanced 6.90 points while Selective Category Index of the CSE gained 32 points at 11:30am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX gained 12.10 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 50 points when the report was filed at 12noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,021 points, advancing 12.10 points or 0.20 percent at 12noon.
Two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 0.03 points to reach at 2,193 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 0.73 points or 0.05 percent to reach at 1,323 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.96 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Uttara Bank dominated the turnover chart till then with shares of BDT 153 million changing hands, closely followed by City Bank with BDT 126 million, Exim Bank BDT 73 million, Brac Bank BDT 67 million, and Confidence Cement BDT 62 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 164 advanced, 100 declined and 41 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 50 points to stand at 11,316 points, also at 12noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 101 gained, 51 declined and 13 issues remained unchanged with BDT 68 million in turnover.
