Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks turned positive at midday on Wednesday as some optimistic investors are showing their selling appetite on sector specific stocks.
Following the previous two days’ sharp gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw positive trend while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw negative in early trading.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 6.68 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 21 points at 10:15am.
After first 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced 0.52 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 24 points at 10:30am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE advanced 10.72 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 37 points when the report was filed at 12noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,887 points, advancing 10.72 points or 0.18 percent at 12noon.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also stayed positive zone, advancing 0.89 points or 0.06 percent to reach at 1,317 points.
However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 1.56 points or 0.07 percent to reach at 2135 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 5.30 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
LankaBangla Finance continued to top the turnover chart till then with shares of BDT 643 million changing hands, closely followed by Tung Hai Knitting BDT 233 million, Fu-Wang Food BDT 207 million, Saif Powertec BDT 203 million and City Bank BDT 178 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 159 advanced, 105 declined and 56 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also turned positive at midday with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –advancing 37 points to stand at 11,040 points, also at 12noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 108 gained, 66 declined and 40 issues remained unchanged with BDT 262 in turnover.
