Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed volatility at midday on Tuesday as investors are active on both sides of trading fence amid ongoing quarterly earnings declaration and upcoming Ramadan.

Following the previous nine days’ 256 points correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher, but trading activities remains low.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 18 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 20 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 17 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 26 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX reached at flat zone, gaining 0.22 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index advanced 5.0 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,557 points, gaining 0.22 points at 12noon.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 1.81 points or 0.13 per cent to stand at 1,302 points till then.

However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 0.85 points or 0.04 percent to reach at 2,075 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.06 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Western Marine Shipyard was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 94 million changing hands, closely followed by Queen South Textile BDT 79 million, United Power BDT 61 million, Legacy Footwear BDT 59 million and RD Food BDT 51 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 139 advanced, 97 declined and 65 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – gaining 5.0 points to stand at 17,146 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also advanced 2.0 points to reach at 10,363 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 58 gained, 47 declined and 26 issues remained unchanged with BDT 54 million in turnover.
