Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed downturn at midday on Tuesday as cautious investors continued their selling spree.

Following the previous day’s marginal gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened marginally higher, but trading activities remains low.

Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 7.75 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 7.0 points at 10:30am.

After first hour of trading, the DSEX lost more than 10 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse fell 11 points at 11:00am.

After two hours of trading, the DSEX fell more than 4.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse advanced 0.82 points at 12noon when the report was filed.


DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,408 points, losing 4.58 points at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 4.46 points or 0.22 percent to reach at 2,002 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also shed 1.50 points or 0.12 per cent to stand at 1,286 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.10 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Inraco Refueling Station was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 132 million changing hands, closely followed by Berger Paints BDT 112 million, Legacy Footwear BDT 102 million, Advent Pharma BDT 89 million and Sinobangla Industries BDT 82 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 128 advanced, 138 declined and 48 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.


The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw marginally higher trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – gaining 0.82 points to stand at 16,668 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 0.87 points to reach at 10,094 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 63 gained, 70 declined and 28 issues remained unchanged with BDT 68 million in turnover.
