Bangladesh’s stocks witness mixed at midday Thursday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed mixed trend at midday on Thursday as investors remained on both sides of trading fence.
Following the previous three days’ upward trend, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw negative trend at opening amid thin participation of investors.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 3.10 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 1.88 points at 10:15am.
After first 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX fell 3.96 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 14 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE advanced nearly 1.96 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 9.0 points when the report was filed at 12noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,893 points, advancing 1.96 points or 0.03 percent at 12noon.
However, the two other indices saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 6.26 points or 0.29 percent to reach at 2125 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 0.28 points or 0.02 percent to reach at 1,315 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.39 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon, riding on Saif Powertec and Generation Next Fashions.
Saif Powertec emerged led the turnover chart till then with shares worth BDT 292 million changing hands, as investors grabbed its shares following the news that production of new battery unit of the company will be commenced from Saturday.
It was closely followed by Generation Next Fashions BDT 291 million, C&A Textile BDT 236 million, LankaBangla Finance BDT 139 million and Prime Bank BDT 116 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 162 advanced, 96 declined and 57 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw negative till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –losing 9.0 points to stand at 11029 points, also at 12noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 100 gained, 67 declined and 36 issues remained unchanged with BDT 198 in turnover.
