Bangladesh’s stocks witness mixed trend at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed mixed trend at midday on Monday, the opening day of New Year, as investors followed cautious stance.

Following the previous session’s upturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened positive trend with slow trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 15 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse rose 56 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced nearly 1.32 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse rose 47 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced 0.34 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 58 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,245 points, advancing 0.34 points at 12noon.

However, the two other indices saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 6.82 points or 0.29 percent to reach at 2,276 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 1.38 points or 0.10 percent to reach at 1,389 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.36 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Paramount Textile was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 87 million changing hands, followed by Alif Industries BDT 77 million, National Bank BDT 70 million, Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 68 million and Dragon Sweater BDT 55 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 181 advanced, 79 declined and 36 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of –advancing 58 points to stand at 19,326 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 34 points to reach at 11,684 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 86 gained, 37 declined and 16 issues remained unchanged with BDT 67 million in turnover.
