Bangladesh’s stocks witness upward trend at opening

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading on Wednesday as investors are active on sector-wise large-cap stocks.

Following the previous five days’ upturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 18 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse rose 30 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 19 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse rose 36 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 19.54 points or 0.31 percent to reach at 6,299 points, when the report was filed at 11:00am.

The two other indices also saw upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also advanced 6.58 points or 0.28 percent to reach at 2,298 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 6.04 points or 0.43 percent to stand at 1,408 points.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at BDT 938 million when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 161 advanced, 45 declined and 51 remained unchanged.

Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 122 million changing hands, closely followed by Dragon Sweater BDT 81 million, BDCOM Online BDT 40 million, IFAD Autos BDT 36 million and Doreen Power BDT 32 million.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward till then with its All Share Price Index – CAPSI – advancing 36 points to stand at 19,458 points, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX – also gained 22 points to stand at 11,763 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 66 gained, 18 declined and 11 issues remained unchanged with BDT 28 million in turnover.
