Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The branches of banks at air, sea and land ports are allowed to remain open on August 30 (Tuesday) to facilitate the country’s foreign trade, officials said.

The central bank issued a circular in this connection on Thursday and asked the chief executives of all scheduled banks for taking necessary measures to keep open their foreign exchange branches, official known as authorized dealer (AD) branches on the day.

“The central bank has taken the latest move to avert any possible obstacle in respect of foreign exchange transactions during the upcoming Eid holidays and weekend,” an executive director of the Bangladesh Bank (BB) told BBN in Dhaka.

He also said the branches of banks at air, sea and land ports are normally kept open during two-day weekend to facilitate export and import businesses.

Besides, the bank authorities are allowed to keep open their AD branches Saturday across the country, another central banker said.
