Bank of England keeps key rate unchanged

London, England (BBN)- The Bank of England (BOE)'s Monetary Policy Committee voted to keep interest rates unchanged at 0.5 percent and make no new quantitative easing purchases after its monthly meeting on Thursday in line with market expectations.

The South Korean central bank on Thursday left its base rate unchanged at 2.5 percent, as expected, calling the sovereign debt troubles in Europe a risk to the global economy and taking note of a recent softening in consumer price pressures, a weekly review report said.
