Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The central bank of Bangladesh has asked the commercial banks to remit Saudi Riyal 6,800 for house rent, food and other expenses of each of the pilgrims who will go to Hajj under private management, officials said on Sunday.

The Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country’s central bank, issued a circular in this regard on Sunday and asked the commercial banks to take necessary measures.

“The central bank has issued the directive in line with the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ advice,” a BB senior official told BBN in Dhaka.

The central banker also said the banks are allowed for remitting the amount of riyals in accordance with the existing financial rules and regulations.

The government has already allowed disbursing the amount of Saudi currency for each pilgrim to meet their expenses in the ensuing Holy Hajj.
