Banks asked to ensure security during Eid vacation

Last updated: July 1, 2016

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The central bank of Bangladesh has asked all banks to ensure adequate security at their head offices, branches and ATMs' booths during the Eid vacation.
The Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country’s central bank, issued a circular in this connection on Thursday and asked the chief executive officers and managing directors of all scheduled banks for taking necessary measures for ensuring security during the period.
The circular has been issued as the banks will remain closed for a long time from July 1 to July 9 marking the holy Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
“We’ve asked the banks to ensure adequate securities both physical and cyber during the period under review to avoid any unwanted incidents,” a BB senior official told BBN in Dhaka.
He also said the banks may arrange shifting duties of their officials to ensure the security.
Currently, 56 commercial banks are running their businesses across the country.
