Banks asked to keep open branches near cattle markets

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The central bank of Bangladesh has asked the banks to keep their branches near cattle markets in the capital Dhaka open till August 11 ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.

All the scheduled banks are advised to keep their branches near the cattle markets open on August 9, 10, and 11, according to a notification, issued by the Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country’s central bank, on Wednesday

Besides, all the branches were also requested to keep the evening banking services running from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, it added.

The central bank also urged all the banks to follow proper security guidelines to keep the banks and vaults secured during the Eid holidays.

Earlier, the banks have been asked to keep open their branches at different places in Dhaka and Chittagong on August 09-10 to facilitate payment of wages and Eid bonuses for workers in labour intensive readymade garment (RMG) industries.

The bank branches, which are located at Dhaka city, Saver, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Chittagong has been allowed to keep open on August 09-10.
