Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The branches of commercial banks at the customs houses will remain open on July 8-9 to facilitate business activities.
The customs houses are Chittagong, Mongla, Benapole, Pangaon ports and at Kamalapur ICD in the capital Dhaka that will provide services during the period under review.
The Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country’s central bank, earlier issued a circular in this connection and asked all the scheduled banks to keep their branches open in those customs houses and facilities for the two days to facilitate foreign trade.
The central bank of Bangladesh issued the directives responding to the demand of the trade-bodies to facilitate business activities during the ongoing nine-day Eid holidays.
The banks have also been asked to provide their staff necessary allowances for doing duties during holidays.
Currently, 56 commercial banks are running their businesses across Bangladesh.
