BB governor honored with Bangla Academy honorary fellowship

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh Bank (BB)- Governor Atiur Rahman has been conferred honorary fellowship by the Bangla Academy in recognition of his research and intellectual works towards inclusive economic development of Bangladesh. 
 
Bangla Academy officially handed over the fellowship to Dr. Rahman in its Annual General Meeting held on Friday. 
 
Past recipients of this fellowship include Ex-President Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Nobel Laureate Professor Amartya Sen, Professor Rehman Sobhan, Professor Dr. Mozaffar Ahmad, Dr. Akbar Ali Khan, Professor Mosharraf Hossain, Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Professor Sirazul Islam, Professor Khan Sarwar Murshid, Professor A. F. Salahuddin Ahmed, Kalim Sarafi, Wahidul Haque, Safiuddin Ahmed, Quamrul Hassan, Qayyum Chowdhury and Mustafa Monwar.
 
Earlier Dr. Rahman received Sheltech Award (2010) for contribution towards financial sector development in Bangladesh, Indira Gandhi Gold Plaque (2011) for significant contribution to international cooperation towards human development, Nawab Bahadur Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury National Award (2012) for development of the banking sector in Bangladesh and World No-Tobacco Day Award (2012) for anti-tobacco movements.
