Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Atiur Rahman is scheduled to leave here Monday night for Cape Town, South Africa to attend the ‘2012 AFI Global Policy Forum’ beginning on Wednesday.
The National Treasury of the Republic of Africa and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) will jointly arrange the annual landmark Forum under the overall theme of Making Financial Inclusion Real.
“The governor will fly around 9:30pm tonight and will be back on Sunday,” a BB senior official told BBN in the capital Dhaka.
The 2012 AFI Global Policy Forum is expected to bring senior representatives from over 80 developing and emerging nations’ regulatory institutions from across the globe, along with financial inclusion policy experts and practitioners from AFI’s many partner institutions.
The agenda will cover technical discussions on the quality of financial access and usage and will also feature a high-level debate and dialogue on both the potential and the real impact of financial inclusion on the lives of the world’s un-banked.
It is expected that GPF 2012 will see even more institutional commitments officially announced, according to the organizers.
